Intellectual PropertyProperty
The IP Department consists of vastly experienced lawyers who are involved in the administration and management of the IP Portfolio of numerous clients around the world.The department also has the machinery and human resources to carry out Watch Service free of charge on behalf of their client. This assist the client in detecting instances of third party unauthorised use of their IP rights.

The department assisted the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) in the worldwide registration of the NIPRISAN & NIPRIFAN drugs. We also co-ordinated the WHO (World Health Organisation)-sponsored Patent and Trademark registration of the EATSET Device (The Emergency Blood Transfusion Device) all over the world.

The department also has some of its lawyers as WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation) Consultants and they have delivered several papers at international seminars on various IP Topics.The department organized and hosted the first ever INTA (International Trademarks Association) event in the form of a round table seminar in Nigeria.
Corporate and Commercial Law
The firm has an active and robust Corporate and Commercial practice. Some of the transactions in which we have been involved includes amongst others:
Advising a Norwegian Bank in relation to the financing of the
 
acquisition of vessels by Interoil, a Nigerian Oil Service Company.
Debt management and corporate restructuring of UTC
Nigeria Plc. for a debt of about US $14 Million owed by a consortium of banks and other financial and trade creditors.
Rendering advise on the privatization of two state-owned
 
hotels - Capital Hotels Plc and Abuja International Hotel and the proposed concession of the International Conference Center (ICC).
Rendering advise on the transfer of Seismic Assets of
 
Western Atlas International Nigeria Limited (a subsidiary of Baker Hughes Incorporated) to Geoseismic Nigeria Limited (a subsidiary of Western Geco, an international Company).
Energy and Natural Resources
The firm also has a strong Energy and Natural Resources team. Some of the transactions in which they have been involved includes amongst others:
Rendering advise on the multi-billion dollar Oso Condesate
 
Project, involving Mobil producing Nigeria Unlimited and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Rendering advise on the Oso Natural Gas Liquids (NGL)
 
project, the biggest privately funded project finance arrangement in West Africa at the time.
Negotiating the Production Sharing Contract (PSC) between
  the NNPC and the Norwegian State Company, Statoil.
Shipping and Maritime
The firm's extensive experience in handling corporate and commercial transactions serves as a solid foundation for providing excellent representation of the firm's clients in respect of their numerous maritime transactions in the shipping industry, including charter parties, bills of exchange, general insurance, etc.
